Tony Medellin (Vocalist) of Make It Reign – Looking at Crowbar’s The Lasting Dose

When I was a little kid I first saw Crowbar on Beavis and Butthead. I always tried rebelling against my parents so anything B&B I liked. “All I Had I Gave” was always playing on the show so I remember getting hooked on the chorus after listening so much. At the time they were the only band “tuning low and playing slow” so from then on I loved slow tempo heavy music. I feel like Crowbar has been one of the most influential bands for the metal and hardcore scene next to “PANTERA” and “BLACK SABBATH”. Kirk’s lyrics were always simple but not and when he sang them you knew he meant it. Now and days all the bands feel like they need a breakdown to justify how heavy they are. Don’t get me wrong MIR has breakdowns but we use them as a part of the song, not what MAKES the song. Crowbar has never had to justify how heavy and slow they were, you just knew when you felt the pain of his voice behind his unique guitar tone. Crowbar is and still continues to reinvent their own sound and until the end of time no band can and will ever sound like them. I chose one of my favorite songs by Crowbar called “LASTING DOSE”. This is one of songs that gave me goosebumps when I first heard it.
